Pan Card News: PAN Card Will Become Invalid from January 1 If This Work Is Not Done

Pan Card News: Every person in the country carries an important card in their pocket – the PAN Card. It is required everywhere, from banks to jobs and income tax processes. However, the government has now made a major decision regarding its usage. If you have not yet linked your PAN card with your Aadhaar, your card will become invalid after January 1, 2026. This means it will no longer be usable for bank work, income tax, or any government services.

Why Is It Important to Link PAN with Aadhaar?

The government has clearly stated that every citizen’s PAN card must be linked with their Aadhaar. This is to ensure there are no discrepancies in the tax system or identity verification process. For those who haven’t linked their PAN yet, the last date is December 31, 2025.

If you fail to do this by the deadline, your PAN card will be deactivated from January 1, 2026. Reactivating it later will be a lengthy and complicated process.

How to Link Aadhaar Online

If you want to complete this process from home, the online method is the easiest.

  1. Visit the Income Tax Department’s official website.
  2. There, click on the “Link Aadhaar” option.
  3. Enter your PAN number and Aadhaar number when prompted.
  4. You will need to pay a fee of ₹1000.
  5. After payment, the linking process will begin and will be completed shortly.

How to Check Aadhaar Linking Status

Many people wish to confirm whether their PAN and Aadhaar are linked. There are two ways to check this:

First method: Visit the Income Tax website, click on “Link Aadhaar Status”, and enter your PAN and Aadhaar numbers.

Second method: Check via SMS.
Type UIDPAN, then your 12-digit Aadhaar number and 10-digit PAN number, and send it to 567678 or 56161.
You will receive a message confirming whether your PAN is linked with Aadhaar or not.

Important Points to Remember

  • Your mobile number must be linked with your Aadhaar to complete this process, as the OTP will be sent to that number. If your mobile number isn’t linked, the process will fail.
  • The government has clearly stated that the deadline will not be extended. Therefore, it’s wise to complete this task on time.
  • If you delay linking, you may face issues with banking services, tax refunds, and your PAN card will no longer be valid for any official purposes.

In short: Link your PAN with Aadhaar before December 31, 2025, to avoid major inconveniences later.
